When experts at France’s Louvre Museum scanned an ancient bronze relic, a 500-year-old mystery was solved.

It turned out it was the missing index finger from a giant statue of the Roman Emperor Constantine.

The fragment has now arrived at Rome’s Capitoline Museum and been reunited with the hand.

A lot of work remains to return the statue to its former glory, what does remain can be viewed at the museum in the halls of the Exedra Marcus Aurelius exhibition.
