Marvel’s Russian spy operative Natasha Romanoff will be hitting the big screen in Black Widow soon, but it took a concerted web campaign to get the blockbuster into production.
Talk of a blockbuster first surfaced in 2004 but it was quietly dropped by studio bosses who thought her character lacked star power. Instead she was thrown into the Iron Man and Avengers franchise.
But the kick-ass superheroine proved so popular, it sparked a massive campaign on Tumblr which pushed Marvel to have a rethink.
